I don't want a lot for Christmas There is just one thing I need

This Christmas has been a strange one.
After years of talking about it my parents decided it was finally the year they'd go away at christmas. So they set off on their holiday on Boxing Day. Before they did we spent Christmas Eve with which was lovely.
Christmas Day Ian and I got up and relaxed whilst opening our presents. I got lots of lovely things. Afterwards we got ready and I was sorting things out and I asked Ian if his mum had text to say we could come round and he said I don't know check I did and when I turned round Ian was on one Knee and he asked me if I'd marry him. I smiled so big and said YES!!!
I was so shocked and excited I couldn't wait to tell people My mum was the first person I rang. We saw all of Ian's family his mum was really happy and excited but we didn't really get the same response from the rest of his family.
It's the first year we were at his Dad's and we don't usually go there as we always feel unwelcome and awkward.
Boxing Day was spent with my family at my aunts. My nan and granddad were caught in the flood but managed to make it out for Boxing Day. It was lovely to get to see them all.
Its been an amazing Christmas and although Ian and I didn't quite get the response we had hoped for we are incredibly happy and look forward to when we get married. Its not going to a quick engagement we aiming to get married in 2016. Thats if funds are sufficient as we'd like to get married abroad. So heres to the future for us.

All I Want for Christmas is You

2013 Review

This year has been an interesting year and as cliche as it may sound it has been an up and down year.
Janruary saw my cousin Darryl (who's more like my sister) turn 18 celebrating having a tea party. Ian and I celebrated our 3rd Anniversary by relaxing and enjoying a meal. Which is just what I need as I'd been dealing with chest pains due to stress and anxiety which was mainly caused by it being my final year at Uni.

February then brought Ian's brothers 30th birthday and I went to London Fashion Weekend with Darryl. It also saw the birth of Kyia our step-neice who was born early but healthy.

In March the majority of my time was spent on my Final Major project Planning, Organising and Taking Photographs. This didn't always go to plan and my chest pains started coming back more as I was getting anxious. I'm not really good at dealing with it and the doctors said to try some of their techniques but they didn't work for me.

I turned 23 in April and I kept it really relaxed spending it with Ian and my Parents as I still had so much work to do for uni.

May saw Ian turn 27 and Ian and his mum took me on the Ferry to France which was a first for me. Izzy the rabbit was welcomed into our family. I Finished and handed in my Final Major Project which was four images and a zine which I created. A the end of the month my year had an exhibition at University.

In June our niece Macie was born. Ian and I stayed in London and I graduated from University which is a big deal in itself but for me it truly was an accomplishment as I hadn't really enjoyed my time at university.

Not even a Month later in July and I got a job which started in September leaving me to enjoy the summer.

August was filled with mini adventures, bike riding, sunbathing and spending times with our families.  We also had my younger cousin Jaime to stay and she seemed to really enjoy herself which was good.

Starting my new job in September gave me a really new lease for life as I forgot what it was like to actually enjoy what I do. It also gave me an insight in to what I want to do in my career. I did my first photo shoot since leaving university which was a grunge themed shoot. Finally finishing off the month seeing my younger cousin Jaime reach double digits. I seriously can't believe she is 10 its gone round so quick and it makes me feel so old.

October started of with my Ian and I going to Rhodes. A belated graduation gift from my parents. We had an amazing time and it is truly what Ian needed as he was finding work so stressful. I started volunteering too which confirmed that I enjoy working with chidden. We then got some bad news. Ian's Kidney was only working at 36% with this news Ian and I were flawed as we didn't expect for it to be that bad. The doctor said it could've been like that for a while but he couldn't tell as Ian hadn't been to the doctors in 13 years. Its only because I made him go that this all came about. We got told he needed a lifestyle change which meant eating healthy and doing exercise. With getting this news and work stressing Ian out it all go to much and was signed off with Stress and Anxiety.

November was fireworks Ian and I also got a few earlier Christmas presents a Tassimo machine from his mum and a Mixer from my nan. We were also properly into our lifestyle change. The school I was volunteering at offered me a teaching assistant position which I took.

In the first week of December I said goodbye to my old job and all the children and started at my new job which I love. Christmas Eve Ian and I went back to the hospital to get a update on Ian's kidney and we got great news its maintained the same and providing we stick with out lifestyle change it should stay that way. Christmas was amazing spending with our families. It was made even more amazing when Ian asked me to marry him and I of course said yes.
This year hasn't always been filled with exciting things but for me it has mostly been a fantastic year. I look forward to 2014 and I hope it is an amazing year.

He knows if you've been bad or good So be good for goodness sake

I wore this on Christmas Eve as I felt it was smart and had a bit of festiveness with the red leggings.  I been eyeing up tartan/ check leggings and I wasn't sure I could pull them off. I've recently lost a bit of weight and I thought why not just try them on. I'm glad I did as I really love them.

Christmas Films

These are my favourite films to watch at Christmas in no particular order.

Santa Claus (1985)
A film I got introduced to by Ian a few years ago. It's truly all about Santa, how he came to be and of course what he means to the kids. Throw in a baddy and Santa saves the day you can't help but like it.

Love Actually (2003)
Following different characters stories showing christmas is different for everyone.  With a starstudded cast this film has the feel good factor.

Serendipity (2001)
I guess it's not really considered a Christmas film but I like it. Set at Christmas time.  A chance meeting between a couple whilst Christmas shopping becomes the beginning of their story. Already in relationships they decide to leave to fate to see if they truly are meant for one another. It's definitely worth a watch.

Elf (2003)
Filled with holiday cheer this film never fails to get me in a christmasy mood.
With Buddy (Will Ferrell) having grown up believing he was an elf he soon discovers that he isn't an elf.  Heading on an adventure to New York City to find his dad. With the always quirky Zooey Deschanel playing the love interest.  This film is about family, love and the meaning of Christmas.

The Holiday (2006)
I absolutely love this film. Showing the heartbreak of its characters but how a holiday and Christmas can change everything. Showing that anything is possible.

Miracle on 34th Street (1994)
I have to admit I only saw this for the first time the other day. The kids in my class got to watch it as a Christmas treat for the end if term. It's fantastic watching it with kids as they still have magic about christmas. I sat there a little in ore and it got me really excited for Christmas. All about believing and having hope this film makes you see the magic in christmas.

Wish List Wednesday

4. Check Treggings
8. Lush Mascara

With looking around for Christmas presents a few things have caught my eye. This Lace Top from Urban Outfitters is so beautiful and it would be great for Christmas and New Year. I need some new leggings and these are perfect as they are thicker.
I'd love a Michael Kors Watch and this one is definitely me. The Mascara is something I really want to try. I've tried so many and they always irritate my eyes I'm hoping this would be better as it's natural.

I got my ticket for the long way round The one with the prettiest of views

Cardigan/ Shirt/ Denim Pinafore - Topshop/ Hat - Primark/ Shoes - Vans/ Tights - H&M

Today I went out shopping with Ian his mum and our little neice. I got this pinafore in the Topshop sale and after a lot of contemplating I finally decide to get it.
I didn't really get anything today but I helped Ian find a lovely leather jacket in TKMAXX. He also got a few tops too. He doesn't often treat himself so its great when he finds things he actually really likes. It was great to have a family day.

Cups - Anna Kendrick

Hes searching, but hes lonely, and hes hurting, but hes only, Waiting for a chance just in time to live a life.

Cardigan - Primark/ Crop Top - Topshop/ Mom Jeans - eBay/ Boots - Dr. Martens/ Blossom Ring - Pandora. Labradite Ring - Ann Angel/ Bracelet - Rhodes

This belated for yesterday. I got these Jeans through from eBay and I just couldn't wait to wear them I've wanted a pair of Mom Jeans for ages but couldn't justify £40 at Topshop. I tend to go to Topshop for Jeans cause I know they fit me the way I want. I got this pair for £20 of eBay it felt like such a bargain especially as they were brand new.
I wanted to the have the jeans with my Dr Martens and they were it with this top and cardigan to give a feminine feel.

Fire in the Twilight - Wang Chung

Monday Musings

There's times in life when you may feel disappointed or that things aren't going your way. I had quite a few of these in my life and I'm sure everyone's had one in their life. It's hard not to give up but you have to stay positive otherwise you'll be consumed with negativity. I'm a firm believer things happen for a reason and I like to think that the down points are there to help us learn and grow as well as to enjoy and appreciate the good points in life more.
A few months ago I was feeling like that.  Feeling I'd worked so hard yet nothing seemed to be working out. I'm very lucky that I'm not someone who gives up easy I'm also extremely lucky that I have such an amazing boyfriend that supports me and keeps me positive. So thank you Ian.
Recently it has felt like things are finally starting to go the right way. I got a great offer last week which I said yes to.
I work as a midday meals supervisor at a primary school and I knew if I wanted to be a teacher I needed to get as much experience in schools as possible. Which lead me to contacting schools about volunteering finally I got a response from a school close to my home. The school is great and the pupils and teachers are lovely. I've only been there for just over a month and they've offered me a job. I have handed in my resignation to my midday meals supervisor job ready to start my new job as a teaching assistant on Wednesday. I'm really going to miss the children but I'm going to get to meet and help some new children.
I can't wait to start.
