Dahlia SS15

Dahlia have launched their Spring/Summer looks and I was excited to see them.
There's just something so fun and girly about their clothes.
I'm always excited to see new collections but Dahlia always seems to capture me. From the look to the colour palettes they use.  These are my favourite pieces.

This dress has that dreamy feel and it gets me excited for spring and summer to come.
This bag is cute too and I love that it's wooden.

These culottes are exquisite and they'd be perfect for my upcoming holiday to Morocco.
This duster coast isn't something I'd usually pick, but I love the print.

This Jumper is really pretty with is pastel pink colours and I love the Swan.
This dress was something that appealed to my 60s side and it would great on a night out.

These looks are so great and Dahlia have definitely done another fantastic collection. I can't wait to see what else they have in the future.

Career Decisions

The last few weeks have been a bit strange and I guess it doesn't help that for me in the last 6 months I have been a bit up and down.
I guess it all goes back to when I graduated. I left university having fallen out of love with photography, which wasn't really ideal.
I decided a break from photography was needed, however this left me more confused. What was I supposed to do from here.

I decided maybe I needed to give something back and I started to volunteer in a primary school. This soon lead to a job. I loved this job and it gave me such satisfaction as I felt I was making a small difference. I decided this might be the career for and that maybe I should look into teaching. as the job was only contracted to July of last year.
I looked into teaching and the thought of teaching Art and Photography really excited me. I did a late application and soon was invited for an interview. I was so excited and just wanted to get started. I felt the interview went really well, but a few days later I got the new I was dreading. I didn't get in. This made me question what I wanted to do and I didn't understand why it wasn't working for me.
Going on from this I decided to be positive and join an agency so that I could get experience in a variety of schools so that I could prepare myself to apply again.

Working in all the different school was a real experience and I found myself not getting the feeling I did in the previous school I worked in. I felt undervalued in all the schools and I found myself not wanting to the job. The teachers all seemed to complain that it's too much work and said that wouldn't advise others to do the same career. It made me see it in a whole new light.
I suddenly realised teaching wasn't for me and that it was fate I didn't get on to the PGCE.

This made me look at my life in terms of work and what I wanted to be doing for a career.
I decided I wanted to do something that let me use my creativity and that used some of the experience and skills I gained through my photography.
I also love social media and marketing and I quick around a computer.
Thinking about this and writing down my skills and interests made me see it all more clearly.
I now feel more positive and I am focused on pursuing the career I want.

Now I know what I want to do it makes it all so much easier, but I find myself at a bit of crossroads.
I need to be in a job, but do I sacrifice my happiness. If I continue doing something that isn't relevant to the career I want then it harms my chances.
I have a lot of thinking to do and decisions to make, but I know it will all work out.

All this has prompted me to think about 2015 and what I want to achieve with my year. You'll have to keep an eye out as I am going to share this and then I will update it through the year to see how I getting on.

Wedding Inspiration - Starting Point

As I've mentioned before Weddings can be a stressful time. I've found that if you have a clear idea of what you want as a couple and are on the same page you can get things done quickly.
For me Pinterest has been fantastic I can have a mood board of all the things Ian and I love and want our wedding to be. I can access it where ever we are so we can explain to the necessary people what we're going for. As it is much easier to show people then to try and explain.

For us the most important thing to start with was a theme and the colours we wanted. As this basically sets up the whole wedding. It helps to make all the other decisions and to give a clear idea of what will work and what won't work.
I'm not going to lie I got a bit carried away adding pictures of beautiful weddings and inspiration and I had to look back on it and edit it. To have a more clear look for our wedding. I had so many ideas at the start and they couldn't all work together.

Above is a smaller version of our wedding inspiration, which you can see fully on Pinterest. I don't want to give it all away as I won't be able to share what it's really like, but I like giving you an idea of where we get our inspiration from.

Sunday Summary

The start of the week saw my mum and dad move, which Ian and I helped with.
I then took and day to relax.
Ian and I bought a few more bits for our wedding and it also became 4 months until our wedding.

Our Ceremony choices came through so it's time to make some decisions.
Then the end of the week saw Darryl turn 20 so we celebrated with tea and cake.

This week has been a busy week and it has had the right amount of relaxation.

Wedding Dress Shopping

On Wednesday I met my nan and cousin Darryl to go Wedding dress shopping.
Now I'm not going to share my dress with you'll have to wait until later in the year. I went to David's Bridal at Westfields in Stratford.

I went in and there were a variety of different dresses to suit every shape and budget.
It was a little overwhelming at first, but after having a look round I felt a lot more relaxed.
My stylist who brought me the dresses was lovely and friendly. I came prepared with a list I'd seen on their look book which acted as a starting point. The second dress I tried on was the one and every one I tried on after just was right. I'm happy to say the second one had me and I ended up getting it. I was so filled with excitement and I felt so beautiful in the dress. I can't wait to wear it on the day.

Afterwards we went for lunch and then I popped to Crumbs and Doilies as I would like a cake and cupcakes from them for our wedding day.

I got a mixed mini dozen so I could take them home for Ian and I to try. They were amazing and left us wanting more so definitely going to be getting them for our wedding.
It was a fantastic day and has made me excited for our wedding day.

Celebrating Our Anniversary

On Sunday I and I went out for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. We have been together for 5 years now. It has gone so quick and I excited for our future and the years to come.
The evening was made more special as we went to our wedding venue for dinner. It was so exciting knowing later in the year we'll be getting married there. It definitely is very us and what we want for our wedding.
We had a three course meal you can see some photos below.  The meal was fantastic and one of the best I've had.

Here's to another year and to the last of being a fiancĂ©. As when we celebrate next year we'll be married.

Looking Back and Looking Forward

I haven't posted yet this year as it's been a bit of an odd start. I know it's a bit delayed, but I thought I'd start with a post looking back at 2014 and looking forward into 2015.

Now 2014 seemed to go really quick.
It is was a year that flew by and left me wondering how it's already 2015.
It saw Ian and I celebrate our engagement, along with deciding to get married this year.
It saw birthdays and celebrations of all kinds. From 1st birthdays to my cousin Darryl going off to uni. I also had some mini adventures and visited places I've never been to before.
Ian and I got a new car and welcomed a new addition to our family in the form of Luna our cat.
Along with lots of other things. I'm truly grateful for all the things that have happened this year and I am extremely excited for 2015.

Moving on to 2015 Ian and I have some exciting plans. The top of those is we are getting married in May. I can't wait and I finally got my dress the other day which makes things even more exciting. So this first half of the year will be filled with planning.

Along with this we are hoping to go to New York and hopefully a few other places this year. We also have some mini things planned like climbing the 02 and seeing the Foo Fighters. Although to me seeing the Foo Fighters is big as I've wanted to see them for years and I can't believe I finally get to.

I am excited for things to come and I hope you are to.

As for resolutions I tend not to do them as I said last year. I'm not very good at them and like last year I am going to keep focusing on being healthier and having a generally good well being. As towards the end of 2014 I started to not feel so great and I feel that is part of it.

So here is to a great 2015.
