A Guide to Decluttering

Decluttering is a great way to organise. I mean the saying goes “tidy home, tidy mind.” Well, it’s something like that, right?
Decluttering often comes under spring cleaning. For me the new year is the perfect time to declutter. Why’s that? It’s simple. Reflecting on the previous year we’re quick to drop what we didn’t like in favour of the things we did. So, why not do that with all aspects of life?

That way we can move forwards and focus on all the good. Wiping the slate clean and refreshing for a better year ahead. It can be a good cleansing experience and decluttering doesn’t mean you have to throw it all away. You can donate your items or even repurpose them.

So, where to start? It can be hard to know where to start when decluttering as it can all be so overwhelming. That’s why I’m here. To give you all my fab tips. Just think of me as your fairy godmother but for decluttering.

  1. Clothes - As I said create three piles. Keep, donate and throw
  2. Take it room by room - Don’t overwhelm yourself just take a bit at a time
  3. 6 month rule - if I've not used it in 6 months I don't need kt
  4. Just because it has a good memory doesn't mean you need to keep it
  5. You don't have to do it all in my go
  6. Do you really need more than one of those?
  7. Unwanted gifts - come on everyone has at least one repurpose them
  8. Outdated - check food + medicine and dispose of correctly
  9. Don't be hard on yourself
  10. Buying ban - we can be quick to think we now have room for more. Don't be fooled
They are my too tips for decluttering. Hopefully they help you as much as they have me.
